Prezi

This is a great website that provides an alternative way to present information instead of using PowerPoint.  Feel free to check out the Prezi I made for my fifth grade class, as a way to introduce Persuasive writing by searching katie wrob and persuasive writing.

Awesome website for visual learners, as a way to explore topics and pictures associated with them.  I have used this as a way to include science topics, such as looking at different freshwater ecosystems specifically exploring the abiotic and biotic elements.

Glogster

A green way to allow your students to create a online poster.  Students have the opportunity to create the layout, add text, pictures and even videos! There are many ways you could use this site, I personally thought about using it for book reports, or as a informational piece of a science unit.  Check out the picture as an example of what you could create and how it can be used in education.

Make Belief Comics

This website provides a great tool for students to write a story in a non-traditional way.  The site provides a blank template for writing a comic strip, students can choose from a variety of characters, word boxes and layouts.  I can see teachers using this for students who need more motivational activities for language arts, or perhaps as a way for students to retell as story they read or heard aloud in class.

Visual Thesaurus

This site is a great resource to use as a way to visually show the connections between a word and synonyms for that word.  I have used this in students writing, during the revisions part of the process.  Great tool to help students try to use new words in their writing while still keeping the meaning of the writing the same.
